Studio Z Yoga will be closed from August 1 – 17. I’m going back east for a few weeks to visit family. For those of you who’ve been coming to class, this is a great time to start your home practice (or get back to it if you’ve let it lapse). For those of you who haven’t been coming to class, this is a great time to start your home practice! There are plenty of books, online resources, dvds, etc to help you. I’d like to encourage you to come to the mat for a few minutes every day and do at least one downward dog, hamstring stretch or even child’s pose. Spend a few minutes observing the breath. Set an intention for your day. Don’t worry about not doing enough. Coming to the mat is the first step.
For those of you who’d like to try something different, Hannah Torkelson is teaching a Pilates class for 4 Wedsnesdays beginning on August 3rd. Class will be held from 6-7 pm at the Northern Susitna Institute. You can contact Hannah at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Bring a mat if you have one. Class is suited for all levels and drop in is possible. I took Hannah’s Sunday Pilates Workshop and I found her to be an inspiring and thoughtful teacher who really knows her stuff. I’m sorry to miss it!
