Practicing with enthusiasm

I just got back from a weekend workshop in Anchorage with my principal teacher.  It was such a delight to be a student for 2 days.  Plus it was wonderful to connect with the Anchorage yoga community.  I hope that I can bring some of what I learned into my classes this week.  This afternoon we ended the workshop with a brief overview of yoga history and philosophy.  It struck me that it is both humbling and hugely exciting to be part of such a vast body of knowledge that is yoga.  I am honored to have the opportunity to teach my community and grateful that my students share their interest and enthusiasm for yoga with me.

Tapas (one of the niyamas) is often translated as heat or discipline.  Today, Lynne translated it as enthusiasm.  What a lovely quality to bring to our mats and our lives.
